I'd be interested in devoting time and resources to a solid competitor to DMOZ. Not a clone or knockoff.
Are there any serious projects in the works that I'm unaware of? |

Hi Cory,
I know what you mean and this is exactly why I started this website. Many people including myself have had that same feeling of wanting to contribute to a decent and fair open project, but were faced with nothing but contempt, rudeness and arrogance from Dmoz and most of its editors.
I honestly believe this volunteer concept which is purported to be "open" but in reality is not, has failed miserably. Dmoz can never be resurrected or made worthy of any serious attention if the current rules, "closeness" and corruption is not addressed.
Any new project has to tackle all the short-comings of Dmoz and anticipate problems and have solutions in place should any of those problems arise.
I hope something new and innovative emerges soon, Currently I am giving my support to Nomoz.org, but I know some one can do even a better Job or come up with a new revolutionary idea that is truly open and most importantly fair to all. |
